New Hope Fireworks Go Off with a Bang

Last Friday, Bucks Happening headed over to New Hope to check out the Friday Night Fireworks from the New Hope/Lambertville Bridge. The excitement of the crowd was infectious as tons of people had gathered to see the 9:30pm show. People crowded the bridge, sat alongside the river, and watched from restaurant & shop patios, taking advantage of all of the great places to watch the show from either town.  The show itself, with a solid 10 minutes of intense fireworks, was outstanding!  They didn’t miss a beat throughout the show as every type of firework imaginable was launched from boats stationed in the Delaware River. Check out some of the highlights from our video. (more…)

Unleash Your Inner-Artist

Walking around scenic Bucks County, I often notice the many artists- whether painters capturing the scenic canal in Washington Crossing or photographers strolling around New Hope with their fancy-shmancy cameras (you can’t deny they look really cool).  Whether you are an experienced artist or just want to try a new hobby, there are tons of opportunities for you to explore your inner-artist in Bucks County.  Below is just a small sample of the opportunities:

1. Check out the Earth Center for the Arts in Richboro.  They offer an array of workshops including Portrait Art, Figure Painting, Digital Photography & Nature.

2. Katydid Photography Studio in Warminster offers a variety of digital photography classes, including one for beginners!

BH Top 10 to-dos on a sunny Bucks County Afternoon

Well I am personally stoked about this weekend’s weather forecast. Not sure how to spend your sunny Saturday?  Here are some ideas:

  1. The Canal- Have you explored the Delaware River Canal?  With scenic views up and down Bucks County, you can take a leisurely walk or bike ride (there are several bike rental shops such as Greenway & Pure Energy Cycling).  Many lovely Bucks County riverside towns are connected by the canal, so if you are athletic enough you might want to visit a few.  If you find that you really love the canal and want to know more, please check out Friends of the Delware Canal. Bucks Spotlight: Derek Vana

Recently, we sat down with Derek Vana, a talented stand-up comedian who is starting to get a lot of attention.  We were immediately impressed by his casual, yet hilarious demeanor but even more impressed that he manages to simultaneously live both “outside the box” &  in Point Pleasant, PA.  Check out his website for more information & links to his hysterical routines. (Warning: You may get hooked into watching hours of his performances!)  You can find Derek performing for FREE this Thursday, April 1st, at John & Peters in New Hope at 9pm. (more…)

Triumph’s Wii Bowling Night

Every Tuesday, Triumph Brewery in New Hope hosts a Wii Bowling tournament. Despite our lack of bowling talent, we decided to check out the event on March 23rd.  We signed up on the list of bowlers & prepared ourselves for embarrassment with a couple of drinks at Triumph’s spacious bar.  However, when we were called up for our turn a friendly group of locals welcomed us enthusiastically and cheered us on throughout our round.  (more…)

Much-to-see at Mercer Museum

A couple days ago, I decided it was time to check out something a bit different- enrich my mind rather than another outing involving food & drink (as much as I LOVE doing that!).  Browsing the internet, I came across the Mercer Museum with its description as a ”Castle Full of Treasures” & was immediately intrigued.  I have been to many museums in NYC & Philadelphia, but rarely do I visit those in my own backyard. I decided to give it a go.  (more…)
