Well readers, you certainly did not make this choice an easy one.
We’d like to thank you; reading through the comments was a nice reminder of all the kind people who live around here (check them out here). We loved reading about people’s fond memories; the couples who have been married for many years, the engagements, the return-ers to Bucks County. We were also touched by so many people who truly do deserve a night out, from those battling illness to those who have been victims of the recession. Peddler’s Village would especially like everyone to know how thankful they are for the many, many generous and kind comments from people who wanted to win it for someone else or who said to give it to others more deserving. Thanks to the ridiculously entertaining movie Elf, we all know that, “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” Luckily, Puck in Doylestown has us covered this Christmas with one of Bucks Happening’s favorite local artists, Christy Jefferson, performing an intimate holiday show on Puck’s heated patio on Thursday, December 23rd (we loved when she performed at the Bucks Happening fall happy hour!). The best part is, admission is FREE for all ages until 9 PM. Check out a sneak peak with Christy’s performance of “Blue Christmas” below: (more…)

To me, the holiday season hasn’t officially started until someone breaks out the cookies. These sweet treats have long played a part in holiday traditions- whether filling your home with the smell of fresh baked cookies, decorating them in holiday colors, or eventually sharing them with friends; family; & the big guy in red.
That’s why earlier this week we took a trip to our friends, Kerry & Roseann, at Town Crier Bakery in Peddler’s Village. Kerry shared his expert tips for baking the perfect holiday butter cookies such as: 1) Don’t use the whole egg- just the whites for a light, fluffy cookie. 2) All flours are not created equal! Use a baking flour (with less gluten) to get the right texture. 3) Lightly spray your cookies with water before sprinkling jimmies (aka “sprinkles”) to get them to stick. (more…)
I’ve been working on the planning committee for Heritage Conservancy’s Christmas at Aldie 2010. For more than 20 years, this tradition is a reenactment of the legendary Christmas parties that Mrs. Mercer once held for when she lived in the mansion.
This year more than 180 guests enjoyed the festive decor, food by Jeffrey Miller catering, and wines from Peace Valley Winery. After dinner, the guests were serenaded by the choir from Central Bucks West High School. Enjoy the pictures and videos!!! (more…)
For the first time, I am involved with the “Christmas at Aldie” event by the Heritage Conservancy. I was over there yesterday, helping with the final plans. I took a few pictures of the volunteer decorating. Check it out! (more…)

Wednesday, December 1st marks the first day of this year’s Chanukah celebration. While sharing beloved traditions like lighting the menorah, enjoying latkes, playing dreidel and sharing gifts with family makes the holidays special, there are also many ways to celebrate the holiday along with the Bucks County community. You thought we’d let you go through the holiday season without a Bucks Happening happy hour? Of course not! This time, we’ve teamed up with the local organizers of the Holiday Tweet Drive, a nation-wide toy/clothing drive that will use social media to give back to children who are less fortunate and spread some holiday cheer along the way.
It’s simple, bring a new toy or article of clothing to Triumph Brewery on Monday, December 13th at 7pm and then join in the big holiday celebration. We’ll bring fun raffle prizes; Triumph will bring the delicious beer, and all you need to bring is a toy and your party shoes! Each donation will go to the American Red Cross Homeless Shelter in Levittown, PA. (more…)
