#6 It's so nice to finally meet you!

#6 on our list of Top 10 of 2010 on Bucks Happening is a combination of our 2010 events- we couldn’t pick a favorite!  Last summer, we decided to take the next step with our readers, to go from the digital world to the real world!  Since then, we’ve held several events to get to meet all of the wonderful people in our community- happy hour at 86 West in Doylestown and Sweet Lorraine’s in Peddler’s Village, a Halloween bash at the Newtown Athletic Club, and most recently, a toy drive at Triumph Brewery.

We love meeting and hearing from Bucks Happening readers and can’t wait to hold more fun events in 2011! For now, though, check out some of the fun we’ve had over the past year: (more…)

Hop-A-Lot-Amus on over to Isaac Newton’s

Issac Newton’s in Newtown, PA has been a staple in Pennsylvania’s craft beer scene for over 20 years.  With their extensive draft and bottle selection, Issac’s is Mecca for any beer geek.  And with names from breweries such as Dogfish Head, Victory, and Weyerbacher, they’ll have a beer for any palate.

But this Thursday a new name will show up on Issac’s beer list.  Although not a newcomer to the local craft beer scene, River Horse Brewing Company from Lambertville, NJ will be hosting their first River Horse Night at Issac’s.  From 7PM-9PM come on out to enjoy River Horse’s offering as well as meet the folks behind the scenes who are responsible for brewing NJ’s finest craft beer. Join us for the Bucks Holiday Tweet Drive

You thought we’d let you go through the holiday season without a Bucks Happening happy hour?  Of course not! This time, we’ve teamed up with the local organizers of the Holiday Tweet Drive, a nation-wide toy/clothing drive that will use social media to give back to children who are less fortunate and spread some holiday cheer along the way.

It’s simple, bring a new toy or article of clothing to Triumph Brewery on Monday, December 13th at 7pm and then join in the big holiday celebration.  We’ll bring fun raffle prizes; Triumph will bring the delicious beer, and all you need to bring is a toy and your party shoes! Each donation will go to the American Red Cross Homeless Shelter in Levittown, PA. (more…)

Spice Up Your Sundays with Apple Wine Tastings

Sundays in October are going to be delicious as Bucks County’s Chaddsford Winery Tasting Room will host Spiced Apple Sundays from 11am to 6pm every week.  While fall is arguably Bucks County’s most scenic season, we don’t always find the time to take it all in.  This is the perfect opportunity; take a few hours one Sunday to sip the flavors of fall.

Each Sunday throughout the month, the Chaddsford tasting room (located in Peddler’s Village) will feature a variety of wine punches, their famous Spiced Apple Wine, and Hot Caramel Apple, which is back by popular demand after last year’s debut.  For a $10 fee, customers will be able to sample ALL THREE wines and then choose a glass of their favorite to enjoy in their newly renovated tasting room.

A Local's Guide to Peddler's Village

Yes- Peddler’s Village is one of Bucks County’s biggest tourist destinations (and we are so thankful that it helps bring so many people down to our beautiful part of Pennsylvania). Over the last year, however, I’ve gotten the chance to see the other side of Peddler’s Village- the side where local shop owners serve the community day in and day out.  I admit that initially I was surprised to find out that so many shops in the village offer products and services that I use everyday, yet I had never considered stopping in Lahaska on a regular old weekday.  I am so happy, though, that I opened my eyes and hope more people will uncover the hidden local gems within Peddler’s Village. Isaac’s Taps That: The Moylan Kilt Lifter Scotch Ale

Every Wednesday night, long-time Newtown borough-staple Isaac Newton’s hosts a beer tapping event, bringing in rare brews from around the world to share with local enthusiasts.  Last week, Bucks Happening and local beer brewer, Chris McGrath,  decided to head over to check it out.

Around 6:30pm, we easily found a couple of seats at the bar and set out to try last week’s special, the Moylan’s Kilt Lifter Scotch Ale – Apple Brandy/Port Barrel blend.  Our bartender, John, was both informative and friendly, chatting with several regulars at the bar throughout the night. Although we were disappointed that the manager blew off our meeting, John did his best to fill us in on what he could. (more…)

Bucks Happening Happy Hour

We had an amazing time at last night’s fall happy hour at Sweet Lorraine’s in Peddler’s Village! With delicious spiced-pumpkin martini’s; the sweet sounds of Christy Jefferson; & loads of great food, Sweet Lorraine’s knows how to host a fabulous happy hour.

We were so happy that everyone came out to make our second happy hour event a huge success.  The only thing we love more than getting to meet some of the Bucks Happening readers (thanks Wayne & Becky from Doylestown for following the blog from the start), is giving them free goodies!  (more…)

The Sweet Sounds of Christy Jefferson

Doylestown native Christy Jefferson is bringing her most recent album, Agree to Disagree, to Peddler’s Village.  On September 8^th, Jefferson will be performing live at the 2^nd Buckshappening.com happy hour at Sweet Lorraine’s (Free food! Please make sure to register in advance).  This event was already going to be a blast, but with the addition of Jefferson, boredom doesn’t stand a chance.

Happy Hour Just Got Happier

Join BH Sept. 8th!

Can you believe there’s only 1 week left before our fall happy hour?  If you haven’t signed up yet, you’re gonna want to read this.

This time, we’re bringing the party over to Sweet Lorraine’s in Peddler’s Village on Wednesday, September 8th.   With a huge outdoor bar overlooking a scarecrow-packed Peddler’s Village, I can’t think of a better way to kick off fall.

Like our last happy hour, they’ll be some fantastic give-aways, tasty drinks, & lots of fun people to meet, but things just got even better. Sweet Lorraine’s has graciously offered some FREE eats, and we just got a sneak peak at the menu…WOW!  Delicious appetizers like steakhouse sliders, roasted bell pepper & garlic hummus, and avocado crabcakes are just the beginning.
