The Beauty of Peace Valley Park

I am lucky enough to live less than 2 miles from Peace Valley, part of the Bucks County Park System. Peace Valley Park consists of 1500 acres of public land, including a 365 acre lake, Lake Galena. Over 14 miles of hiking trails afford solitude with lakeside and stream-side views at the Peace Valley Nature Center. It is my conduit to my meeting spot for my weekday cycling runs.

The slowly changing water temperature, when coupled with cool air in the mornings has made for some interesting fog formations as the fog clings to the water even over the spillway as the video below shows. (more…)

We are so impressed and touched by the generosity of the BH readers!  We had an awesome turnout tonight at Triumph Brewing Company of New Hope.  Thanks to you, dozens of children in the Bucks County area who wouldn’t otherwise have gifts this holiday will be receiving gifts (via Red Cross of Lower Bucks).  Good times had by all!!  (more…)

Hop-A-Lot-Amus on over to Isaac Newton’s

Issac Newton’s in Newtown, PA has been a staple in Pennsylvania’s craft beer scene for over 20 years.  With their extensive draft and bottle selection, Issac’s is Mecca for any beer geek.  And with names from breweries such as Dogfish Head, Victory, and Weyerbacher, they’ll have a beer for any palate.

But this Thursday a new name will show up on Issac’s beer list.  Although not a newcomer to the local craft beer scene, River Horse Brewing Company from Lambertville, NJ will be hosting their first River Horse Night at Issac’s.  From 7PM-9PM come on out to enjoy River Horse’s offering as well as meet the folks behind the scenes who are responsible for brewing NJ’s finest craft beer. Join us for the Bucks Holiday Tweet Drive

You thought we’d let you go through the holiday season without a Bucks Happening happy hour?  Of course not! This time, we’ve teamed up with the local organizers of the Holiday Tweet Drive, a nation-wide toy/clothing drive that will use social media to give back to children who are less fortunate and spread some holiday cheer along the way.

It’s simple, bring a new toy or article of clothing to Triumph Brewery on Monday, December 13th at 7pm and then join in the big holiday celebration.  We’ll bring fun raffle prizes; Triumph will bring the delicious beer, and all you need to bring is a toy and your party shoes! Each donation will go to the American Red Cross Homeless Shelter in Levittown, PA. (more…)

Blast from the past: Eddie Money at Havana

Take me to Havana tonight?? That will be the question next Saturday, November 27th when Eddie Money takes the stage in New Hope for his Christmas show. Tickets are a little steep compared to the traditional local venue ($40 for pre-orders and $45 at the door), but the eclectic, intimate venue of Havana’s coupled with a night of belting out classic 1980s songs with Eddie himself have the making for one hell of a night.  Can Mr. Money still rake it in?  Will you buy Two Tickets to Paradise?   (more…)

Harry Potter Mania

Have you ordered tickets yet?

Excitement is in the air for millions of Harry Potter fans around the country anticipating the release of part I of the final film.  This time Harry, Ron, and Hermione will set out on a different type of adventure, away from the safety of Hogwarts and without the guidance they’ve relied on in the past. With an 84% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” is off to a solid start…now they just have to impress the fans!

It all happens this Thursday evening, when the biggest of Harry Potter fans stay up late to watch the very first showings.  While many of the midnight showings in and around Bucks County are already sold out, Bucks Happening compiled a list of available show times for the procrastinating fans. A Night with Rocky Horror

The talented cast of the Rocky Horror Picture Show at BC Playhouse

Driving through New Hope at 12am last Saturday night, you would probably think things look pretty ordinary. There’s a crowd enjoying drinks on the patio at Havana’s and a few groups outside of the Sandbar, but otherwise the bustling streets are beginning to thin out.  Tucked away along the river, though, the Bucks County Playhouse is preparing for it’s midnight showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show, the actors’ third show of the  day, and inside, is a scene that is anything but ordinary!
