Interview with Food Inc. director Rob Kenner, Bucks Happening’s Top 10 of 2010
We loved getting to know some of the talented people connected to Bucks County throughout the year, such as Lauren O’Keefe from the girl’s singing group Jada, Dana O’Neil from ESPN, and popular radio DJ Lisa Paige.
We loved the eye-opening, Academy Award nominated movie Food Inc and could hardly believe it when we found out that director, Rob Kenner, had attended New Hope’s Solebury School. During his fall visit, Kenner was nice enough to sit down with Angela Giovine of Bucks Happening for an exclusive interview. (more…)
I’ve been working on the planning committee for Heritage Conservancy’s Christmas at Aldie 2010. For more than 20 years, this tradition is a reenactment of the legendary Christmas parties that Mrs. Mercer once held for when she lived in the mansion.
This year more than 180 guests enjoyed the festive decor, food by Jeffrey Miller catering, and wines from Peace Valley Winery. After dinner, the guests were serenaded by the choir from Central Bucks West High School. Enjoy the pictures and videos!!! (more…)
So you are probably wondering, “why are they posting haunted stories after Halloween?” Well, for those who believe in the supernatural, ghosts aren’t exclusive to the month of October. If you got the chance to read our story about the Ghost Tours of New Hope, this is a follow up with an exclusive interview with Lynda Elizabeth Jeffrey, the daughter of the late Adi-Kent Thomas Jeffrey.
Haunted Village and Valley is part three of the collection of ghost stories from the Delaware Valley. This part of the trilogy is particularly important because it is the last of the stories from Adi-Kent Thomas Jeffrey with an emphasis around New Hope. The book includes 33 stories, some of which are from the own experiences of the author’s.
For loyal readers of Bucks Happening, you will know that we have often highlighted the local food movement that has swept not only Bucks County, but the nation and really the entire world; Farm to Table events, farmers’ markets and food co-ops abound. We have often mentioned the Academy Award nominated film Food Inc., which, by the way, sold more DVDs on Amazon last year than any the movie.
But we had no idea that Food Inc. producer and director Rob Kenner had ties to Bucks County!! And when we learned that we would have the distinct honor of interviewing him at his Alma Mater here in Bucks County, we were beyond thrilled!! (more…)
Some months ago, I began working with the Heritage Conservancy, which has been so rewarding and fun. One of the side benefits of volunteering for a great local organization is meeting new and interesting people. Judith Renstrom is one of those interesting people. As we sat in a planning meeting, I couldn’t help but notice the modern and distinctive jewelry that Judith wore. Just being in the same room with her, I sensed that she was an artist. Later on, one of the other women in the group told me that she in fact was a jewelry designer. After getting to know Judith a little better, I realized that I just had to share her talent with the BH readers. (more…)
Doylestown native Christy Jefferson is bringing her most recent album, Agree to Disagree, to Peddler’s Village. On September 8th, Jefferson will be performing live at the 2nd Buckshappening.com happy hour at Sweet Lorraine’s (Free food! Please make sure to register in advance). This event was already going to be a blast, but with the addition of Jefferson, boredom doesn’t stand a chance.

The music industry is buzzing with news of Bensalem native, Christina Perri. The Archbishop Ryan alumni made waves when her song, “Jar of Hearts,” was featured on a recent episode of Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance.
After it’s debut on prime-time television, “Jar of Hearts” shot to #28 on Billboard’s Hot Digital Songs, and sold more than 100,000 copies within the month. Just last week, she signed a contract with Atlantic Records, confirming that we can all look forward to hearing much more from Christina in the future. For now, though, check out her song “Jar of Hearts” and watch a few of her other breathtaking performances on YouTube.
At Bucks Happening, few things make us happier than seeing talented locals getting the recognition they deserve! We certainly hope to bring you more about Perri in the future.

Recently we had the opportunity to interview “partial Bucks County native” Dana O’Neil. Dana currently covers NCAA college basketball for ESPN. A Penn State grad, Dana stayed close to home during college and beyond, working for The Trentonian, Bucks County Courier Times, and the Philadelphia Daily News. Her success started right here in our area. She was kind enough to tell us a bit about herself and what it was like growing up Bucks. Check out what Dana has to offer on sports, journalism, and her favorite local hang outs! (more…)
Last night BH boarded the NJ Transit to head to a super fun event in NYC – the Pampered with Paige event hosted by Lisa Paige of 92.3 NOW. Have we mentioned lately that LP is a Bucks-er? The beautiful blond bundle of energy hosts the lunch time segment (I wouldn’t be surprised if she was having a dance party the entire time she’s on the air). (more…)
