Every Monday at dusk, the Washington Crossing Open Air Theater (just across the bridge in New Jersey) shows a movie at dusk. For just $10 per car, you can enjoy any of this year’s extremely diverse films- from family friendly films like A Bug’s Life to classic Hitchcock to Michael Jackson: This Is It.
For the intermediate/experienced canoeists and kayakers of Bucks County, this Saturday is your first chance of the summer to enjoy a scenic moonlit tour at Peace Valley Park in New Britain Township. You’ll hit the waters from 9-11pm to soak in the picturesque views. Registration for this weekend’s trip has already passed, but you have two more chances to sign up for July 24th & August 21st so book ahead! (more…)

Doylestown, PA
If you are looking to enjoy a night at the movies this summer without the twelve year old kids talking two rows down, head over to Doylestown to check out the County Theater’s amazing Classic Hollywood Line-Up. Escape the heat for a few hours and take in classics ranging from Sabrina to The Clockwork Orange to The Big Lebowski. (more…)
Last Friday, Bucks Happening headed over to New Hope to check out the Friday Night Fireworks from the New Hope/Lambertville Bridge. The excitement of the crowd was infectious as tons of people had gathered to see the 9:30pm show. People crowded the bridge, sat alongside the river, and watched from restaurant & shop patios, taking advantage of all of the great places to watch the show from either town. The show itself, with a solid 10 minutes of intense fireworks, was outstanding! They didn’t miss a beat throughout the show as every type of firework imaginable was launched from boats stationed in the Delaware River. Check out some of the highlights from our video. (more…)
With the sun finally making an appearance yesterday, I decided to check out the Upper Makefield Carnival in Washington Crossing. If you saw a slightly older person screaming on the Pirate Ship, it definitely wasn’t me. Nope. We played games, won a few cheap prizes, ate too many sweets, and proceeded to get nauseous on rides. It was awesome. (more…)
There is no doubt that Bucks County offers an abundance of fantastic restaurants, but there is definitely room for improvement in one area- diversity. That’s why I was so excited to go to Cross Culture Indian Cuisine in Doylestown last week. The range of flavors and textures in an Indian meal- when done right- makes for an incredibly satisfying & unique experience that I don’t often get to enjoy. (more…)
It’s my favorite time of year again- ice cream season! Few things are better than enjoying a refreshingly delicious scoop on a warm night. Bucks County offers a variety of unique, yet classic ice cream shops but one stands above the rest for me- The Zebra-Striped Whale Gourmet Ice Cream & Coffee Cafe.
In December of 2004, Zebra’s doors opened at it’s picturesque location on State Street in Newtown. Like with it’s name, the atmosphere offers just the right amount of zaniness to create the perfect ice cream eating environment. (more…)
What better way is there to spend a Sunday afternoon than learning about & tasting a variety of local wines? This past Sunday, I had the pleasure of attending Crossing Vineyard’s Wine Tasting for Dummies class. For $30, the owner of Crossing Vineyard spent two hours sharing his best wine tips & stories, his self-proclaimed goal being to “de-snobarize” wine tasting. I found myself so entertained that I barely realized how much I was learning! After tasting a full range of wines- from whites to reds to desserts- and nibbling on the provided cheese & crackers, the class closed with a tour of the winery. (more…)
On Saturday, 2/13/10, my boyfriend & I celebrated Valentine’s Day by having a fabulous dinner at the Hamilton Grill Room in Lambertville, NJ. After five days, I am still thinking about our amazing meal!
The Hamilton Grill Room is tucked away down a narrow side street along the canal in Lambertville. While the freezing temperatures had us scurrying indoors, I could see that the alley would be picturesque for outdoor seating in the warmer months. Inside, I was taken with the elegant decor with rustic accents. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted and immediately seated even though we had arrived a few minutes ahead of our reservation. (more…)
