What’s happening this week?

Fall is off to a roaring start- from a canoe parade to a bluegrass festival to a historic book launch. Besides the list we complied below don’t forget to check out our Fall Guide for events and fun all season long. Since we can’t write about every event happening this week, check out our calendar for all the happenings in Bucks County.

Though it is difficult to believe that almost a decade has passed, this week also sadly marks the 9th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.  Whether you’ll be attending one of the remembrance events or privately marking the anniversary, we wish everyone a safe and peaceful weekend. (more…)

Bucks County's Own Judith: Judith Renstrom

Judith Renstrom

A necklace by Judith Renstrom

Some months ago, I began working with the Heritage Conservancy, which has been so rewarding and fun.  One of the side benefits of volunteering for a great local organization is meeting new and interesting people.  Judith Renstrom is one of those interesting people.  As we sat in a planning meeting, I couldn’t help but notice the modern and distinctive jewelry that Judith wore.  Just being in the same room with her, I sensed that she was an artist.  Later on, one of the other women in the group told me that she in fact was a jewelry designer.  After getting to know Judith a little better, I realized that I just had to share her talent with the BH readers. Celebrating German Culture at Biergarten Evening

This past Friday, August 27th, the Fonthill Museum held their annual Biergarten Evening.  In previous years, the event did not focus on any specific beer or style, but offered an extensive array of choices.  This year, however, Fonthill looked to Philadelphia Brewing Company and David April to extend his knowledge of German beers to the sold out crowd.  The main styles of German beer, the history of German brewing, the German process, and typical ingredients were all up for discussion at this tasting. Bucks Happening this Week

On a weekly basis in Bucks County, there is always something fun to do.  There are two themes that we decided to highlight this week; cultural fun and free fun.  As most members of Bucks can attest to, there is plenty of culture and history to each and every town.  Two really great events really jumped out at us this week, the New Hope Arts and Biergarten Evening.  We are certainly looking forward to a fantastic weekend.  Free movies and shows at TD Bank Ampitheatre and Sellersville theatre will keep families and friends entertained during the first week back to school.  Enjoy the last weekend of summer and keep the fun going for the kids as they get back into the classrooms! Take a Biplane ride over Philadelphia

Plane ride bucks countyThere have been so many times that I have seen the beautiful Philadelphia skyline on TV, perfectly captured by a helicopter or plane or even a blimp.  While high-def TVs work wonders, nothing can replace the real experience of seeing the city from above.  Biplane rides over Philadelphia is offering just that, an opportunity to hop into the open air cockpit of a famous World War II Stearman biplane called the Cannibal Queen. The Cannibal Queen brings its passengers closer to the top of Liberty One than ever before.
