A little French romance on the Delaware

bucks county restaurants

Our wedding...Photo Credit: All that Glitters Photography

It’s been three years since my husband (then fiance) left New York City to become Bucks County residents.  Two months after we became official Bucks County homeowners, we got married.  We recently celebrated our third wedding anniversary.

We created a fun little tradition shortly after we got hitched:  my husband and I take turns planning our anniversary date.  It’s fun because ever other year I get to kick back and be surprised, and then I get to be the surprise-er (if that’s a word), which is really fun too.  This year happened to be my husband’s year.  For previous anniversaries, we had taken off for the weekend for little trips.  But this year marks our first “Bucks County celebrated” anniversary.

Well, my hubby did a great job.  We started with a pre-dinner cocktail at the Boat House.  We sat outside and enjoyed the scenery for a drink before heading on to dinner. I will give you a couple hints:  It’s a BYOB, it has been around since the 1700s (in its current reincarnation since the 70s), and is “très romantique.”  Did you guess?

Restaurant Review: Plan B Bar & Bistro

As my fellow Washington Crossing residents know, there are very few options to eat out in town.  For years, the Lion’s Heart pub was one of the few local spots that unfortunately left a lot to be desired.  Thus, I was thrilled to see that a new restaurant was taking over the Lion’s Heart location.  Plan B Bar & Bistro opened on New Year’s Eve and last night, I got the chance to check it out.

A small group of friends & I set out around 8:30pm on a Friday night with our appetites & bottles of red wine in hand.  Since the restaurant is still pending its liquor license, it is currently functioning as a BYOB.   We did note, however, that they have an extensive wine list featured on their menu for the future.  (more…)

Challenge to Craig Laban

Craig Laban, the very popular food critic from the Philadelphia Inquirer, reviewed Rouget as “some the best food I’ve eaten in Bucks County in the last decade.”  And yes, Rouget is excellent.  I’ve been there twice now.  Once this evening, which is what is motivating this post.  But, having just been to Tastebuds in New Hope last week, I stand by my opinion that Tastebuds is the best restaurant in Bucks County.  Perhaps Mr. Laban reviewed Tastebuds in the past, it has been there for a long time.  I haven’t seen it though.  Don’t get me wrong, I like Rouget and they make a great meal. Tasty Tasty Tastebuds

Tastebuds Restaurant New Hope PAWe have dined at Tastebuds in New Hope three or four times now, and it is definitely the best restaurant in the area, and one of the best I’ve been to.  The amazing part about it is the fact that I have lived here in Bucks County for more than 25 years, and I only discovered this gem about 2 years ago.  Tastebuds has been wowing the locals for more than 10 years! Saturday Night at Vecchia Osteria

Vecchia OsteriaCrisp fall air, peaceful dinner music, a crowded dining room & the smell of fresh Italian food. If you have ever dined at Vecchia Osteria (Prounounced veH-Kia oh-ster-EE-a), a relatively new Italian BYOB in Newtown, you can picture it yourself. Pasquale Palino, formerly of La Stalla, is the executive chef.  My husband and I recently checked it out.

Ambiance: It was packed! Every seat was taken! A testament to Pasquale’s talents.  Definitely call for reservations. There is live music, (more…)
