I am lucky enough to live less than 2 miles from Peace Valley, part of the Bucks County Park System. Peace Valley Park consists of 1500 acres of public land, including a 365 acre lake, Lake Galena. Over 14 miles of hiking trails afford solitude with lakeside and stream-side views at the Peace Valley Nature Center. It is my conduit to my meeting spot for my weekday cycling runs.
The slowly changing water temperature, when coupled with cool air in the mornings has made for some interesting fog formations as the fog clings to the water even over the spillway as the video below shows. (more…)
Peace Valley Lavender Farm in New Britain, Bucks Happening’s Top 10 of 2010
There are so many wonderful ways to soak in the great outdoors of Bucks County. This year alone we’ve practiced yoga in the park, biked along the canal, visited the spectacular ringing rocks, and canoed on Lake Luxembourg to name a few. One of our favorite visits, though, was the scenic trip to Peace Valley Lavender Farm. There are few better ways to spend a sunny spring morning than by taking in the fresh smell of Lavender overlooking Lake Galena. Their handmade products include lavender oil, lavender pillow sprays, and even lavender chocolates! (more…)

The Delaware River is one of the finalists for PA’s 2011 River of the Year! The River of the Year is an annual recognition by PA DCNR that helps raise awareness about the importance of rivers, their conservation needs, and their recreational and economic impact on watershed communities.
The Delaware Sojourn Steering Committee and DRBC have partnered to nominate the Delaware. If designated, they will be coordinating several events throughout the year that highlight the beautiful river. (more…)
Check out Bucks Happening’s preview of the New Hope Holiday Light Show! Featuring more than 15,000 LED lights on the 35-foot Norway Spruce that anchors Ferry Street, the computer generated show will be a 16 minute long light extravaganza set to holiday music. Shows will be held each night at 6pm and 8pm, as well as 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays. (Want to see more? Our YouTube Channel has a longer video of the light show).

I’m a nail biter. I never spend any money on manicures, because I’ve ruined it by the time I’ve driven home from the salon. If I haven’t ruined it from biting, then I chip it typing on the computer. Recently, the lovely ladies over at over at Fingertips and Tootsies Nail Salon in Newtown convinced me to try a new type of manicure: the gelish manicure. (more…)
