More Locavore! 3rd Annual Networking Event to Support the Buy Local Trend
This Thursday, February 23rd at 5pm, Superior Woodcraft & the Doylestown Business and Community Alliance (DBCA) will host the hugely popular Buy Local – Bucks County Locavore, a free event for locals. The sampling / business card event, which last year brought over 400 area business people together, supports the growing interest in locally made and grown products.
Patrick Kennedy, Vice-President of Superior Woodcraft noted that in the last several years, communities with Buy Local support are experiencing a markedly stronger revenue growth. “The public has really gotten behind and embraced the Buy Local movement,” said Kennedy. “It is inspiring to see how many businesses are reaching out to one another.” Guests will also be treated to a special selection of local foods and beverages provided by the growers and producers who carefully crafted it. “This is also a great opportunity to learn a little about local food and the ‘Locavore’ movement; once you’ve tasted, you’ll quickly appreciate the amazing bounty in our own back yard,” continued Kennedy. Much of the beauty of Bucks County can be attributed to the historic houses across our region. Those lucky enough to live in one of these homes are surrounded by unique, detailed craftsmanship that cannot be found in new construction.
When you purchase a new construction home, often you can find the details repeated in other houses all over town. Often the finer details have been overlooked in favor of cost and efficiency.
Fortunately, when it comes to your home, it’s never “take it or leave it.” What you do with your home is completely up to you.
Take your railings, for example. Most houses, new construction or not, have plain builder-grade railings.
Functional? Sure.

Women in Business: Linda Shick of Doylestown’s Naftulin & Shick

Bucks County is known for having some pretty dangerous roads and intersections. If you’ve ever navigated the many intersections of Street Road during rush hour, or driven down the windy, wooded back roads of Central and Upper Bucks, you know the potential dangers: distracted drivers, deer, dark roads, etc. No one is more aware of these dangers than Attorney Linda Shick, who has dedicated her whole life to litigating accident cases where people have been hurt through no fault of their own.
Linda is a partner with Naftulin& Shick, a personal injury law firm located right in Doylestown, Bucks County. A graduate of C.B. West High School, she received her JD from Rutgers University School of Law in New Jersey. She’s currently a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association as well as the Bucks County Bar Association.
Linda represents hundreds of people in Bucks County (and surrounding counties) who are injured due to car collisions, workplace accidents, vicious animals, negligent property owners, construction accidents, and careless truck drivers. Free Programs and Classes Available for Bucks Businesses
Business owners and professionals in Bucks County and the surrounding area are in for a real treat if they can take time away from busy schedules to “Occupy Novotorium” for any of the free business programs being offered during the week of January 16. Novotorium, located conveniently in Langhorne just minutes from Route 1 and I95, is offering two free evening programs and five free daytime classes. Registration is required.
