Bucks Bakers Throwdown in Cupcake Competition

Did that get your attention? Over the past few years, the once simplistic dessert has taken on a life of it’s own, with bakeries across the country transforming the bite sized treat into intricate delicacies. Shows like Food Network’s Cupcake Wars have only added fuel to the fire, showing the public that the world of cupcakes has moved way beyond vanilla.
Now, Bucks County residents can join in the fun at the first ever Cupcake Contest at Select Jewelers in Feasterville! This Saturday, May 19th, bakeries from around Bucks County- Feasterville Family Bakery, Rilling’s, What’s for Dessert, Van Earl’s Cakes, and Schenk’s Bakery- will compete in the ultimate cupcake competition. Mustache May?
Mustaches. They’re not just for Tom Selleck and hipsters anymore.
The Doylestown Historical Society is hosting an ‘old-style’ mustache contest. They are looking for the best one in town: handlebar, waxed, or otherwise. The deadline for this extreme event is Memorial Day (May 28, 2012). The reason for that deadline is that contestants are invited to sport their ‘staches while marching in Doylestown’s famed Memorial Day Parade (the oldest Memorial Day Parade in the country, by the way).

Bucks Happening & Russian Standard have teamed up to search for the Most Happening Cocktail in Bucks County, which will be served as a signature cocktail at the Happening Bash on Thursday, April 26th. We asked some of the best bartenders in Bucks County, including the nominees, finalists, & winners of the Happening List Bartender and Specialty Cocktail categories, to submit their recipe for the signature cocktail show-down!
