Gourmet Getaway: Cuisine for a Cause

Bucks Happening and Lehigh Happening are proud be sponsors of this year’s Gourmet Getaway, Cuisine for a Cause, happening Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Spring Mill Manor in Ivyland from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

All proceeds benefit the Women in Business Scholarship Program, which provides educational funds to deserving Bucks County women to gain knowledge, improve job skills and give back to the community. Since 1983, the Chamber has awarded over $239,564 in scholarships through this program.

The Gourmet Getaway is an evening of food and beer and wine tasting from the area’s finest restaurants, caterers and other establishments including: Bobbie Simone’s Restaurant and Bar, Borghi ‘s Restaurant, Buckingham Valley Vineyards, Chaddsford Winery, Chambers 19 Bistro and Bar, DiSh Catering, Doug’s Cakes, HEAVEN ON A PLATE Personal Chef Service, Laurie’s Chocolates, New Hope Winery, Sand Castle Winery, Soup to Nuts Caterers, The Talking Teacup, Taste, Town Crier Bakery, Villa Barolo, Vintage Grille and Wegmans. Romance on the Rails: New Hope Railroad Valentine’s Day Train Ride

Organizing the perfect Valentine’s Day date can be a daunting task! You try to achieve that perfect balance- a combination of romance & originality- while still keeping the evening enjoyable & stress-free. Well, the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad has got you covered with their romantic Valentine’s Day Train Ride.

This two-hour excursion, happening on both Saturday, February 11th and Tuesday, February 14th,  features a four-course meal complete with salad, entree and dessert brought to you by McCaffrey’s Catering. On Friday October 28th from 5pm to 9pm, Del Val College will host a Special Needs Youth (STARS) Halloween Night Out.  For special needs youth, this event will include a friendly hayride around the Del Val Campus and a brief visit with the animals, pumpkin picking, cider and hot chocolate (for purchase) and socializing around a bonfire. $6 per person. First on Friday, October 14th, 2011, Spring Mill Country Club is hosting the  HealthLink Hole-in-One, a Mini-Golf Tournament followed by a the Cocktail Party! Prizes for every golfer, auction & raffles galore!

When you hear the word “orchestra”, I bet the sounds of the band featured in the video below don’t come to mind! On Friday night, head to Puck to take in the ecclectic sounds of the West Philadelphia Orchestra, an ensemble made up of Philly’s finest and wildest musicians performing trumpets, saxophones, clarinet, drums, baritone horns, flute, vocals, and sousaphone. Happening Kids: Bike the Basin

On Sunday, September 18, 2011, many families in the Northampton area will be taking part in the exciting BIKE THE BASIN event, an event originated by kids, involving kids, to benefit people all over the world. The Bike the Basin event is the brainchild of three Ivyland siblings, Michael, Mitchell and Karissa Smedley. Michael (11) and Mitchell (8) are affected by a rare blindness called Leber’s Congenital Amaurosis (LCA). LCA is the most severe form of Retinitis Pigmentosa. The gene responsible for their blindness is CRB1. CRB1 is the second highest incidence of LCA, but research has been slow to focus on it. (more…)
