Because they like to watch us squirm, the folks over at PHL 17 Philly slowly released the winners of the Philly Hotlist Competition, one by one, throughout the course of last week. As we announced on Friday, Bucks Happening is so proud and flattered to announce that WE WON in the BEST BLOGGER Category!!! We’ve been on Cloud Nine ever since.
But the best news is, Bucks County brought it!!! There were many Bucks County winners in the Philly Hotlist contest. Please join us in congratulating:
A few weeks back, Bucks Happening posted about HGTV looking for local judges to participate in a pilot episode of their new show, which happened to be taped in Bucks County. Always ones to seek out interesting experience, the BH team immediately applied, and a few days later we were scheduled to shoot Sunday, September 19th.
We arrived “make-up ready” at the Heritage Homes in Furlong, PA where two re-designed town-homes awaited our reactions. We were part of a crowd of about fifty local judges brought in for the episode in charge of deciding which design best appeals to it’s target-market. The task for us was simple- walk into each home, give our opinions on each design, & vote for a favorite. Of course we were not told anything about the designers until after the votes were cast, and in true HGTV fashion there were a few other surprises in store for us. (more…)
Bats. We usually associate bats with Halloween, vampires, attics and even Batman himself. Unfortunately, Hollywood has misconstrued the real benefit of bats. The little brown bat eats roughly 4,500 bugs a night. With over 1 million bats being effected by White Nose Syndrome, that’s roughly 4,500,000,000 extra bugs you have to worry about crawling into your house, destroying crops, or biting you. So why is everyone scared of these little non-aggressive creatures that help so much?
It’s here! With September just a couple days away, it’s time for the official Bucks Happening Fall Guide.

A wonderful local charity, the Kisses for Kyle Foundation, is in the running to win $250,000 from the Chase Community Giving Program, but they need your help. Kisses for Kyle is dedicated to helping children with cancer and their families who reside in the Philadelphia region, its surrounding counties, and portions of NJ and DE. Their mission is to alleviate some of the massive burden that these families face during this trying time.
I just want to take a moment to direct your attention to a new feature here at BucksHappening.com. We know that our readers, like us, are proud to be from Bucks County. Back when I worked in NYC, people would comment about the many Bucks County advertisements they saw on their trains, and I would loudly declare my love for everything Bucks, urging them to take a trip themselves. Now, Bucks Happening is introducing our SHOP button- a way for everyone to share their enthusiasm! (more…)
