Scarecrow Spotlight: Scouts Honor

It’s officially September, and that means it’s almost time for the Peddler’s Village Scarecrow competition to kick off! Last week, Bucks Happening caught up with Junior Girl Scout Troop 21811 who teamed up with the Doylestown-based Heritage Conservancy to make an extra special scarecrow for this year’s “Group Scarecrow” category. Their crow, appropriately named Junior in honor of the group’s big move from Brownies to Junior Girl Scouts this year, is spreading the important message of farmland conservation in Bucks County.
Wash Tyme-Cleaning with Meaning
Recycle, Repurpose, Reuse—for the people of WashTyme soaps, these are words to live by. In a world that has become so blinded by how efficient we can be, we forget sometimes how important it is to consider the products we are using and what processes were used to make said products. In many cases, there may be only one possible resource to make a product. In most, however, recycled materials can be used to create very useful, everyday materials. Wash Tyme is one of those products.

Celebrating German Culture at Biergarten Evening
This past Friday, August 27th, the Fonthill Museum held their annual Biergarten Evening. In previous years, the event did not focus on any specific beer or style, but offered an extensive array of choices. This year, however, Fonthill looked to Philadelphia Brewing Company and David April to extend his knowledge of German beers to the sold out crowd. The main styles of German beer, the history of German brewing, the German process, and typical ingredients were all up for discussion at this tasting.
